Location: St Mary’s CE Primary School
Hours: Casual / As required, typically between 11:45am – 1:00pm during term time
Salary: SCP 3 - £14.40 per hour
About the Role
St Mary’s CE Primary School is seeking a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Casual Midday Assistant to support the supervision of pupils during the lunchtime period. Required on an ad hoc basis to cover staff illness and training.
The successful candidate will help ensure that our children enjoy a safe, happy and positive lunchtime experience both in the dining hall and on the playground. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with primary-aged children and is able to promote positive behaviour and safe play.
Key Responsibilities
Supervising pupils in the dining hall, playground and other designated areas during lunchtime
Supporting children while they eat and encouraging good table manners
Promoting positive behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Ensuring the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all pupils
Assisting with minor first aid where required and reporting incidents to the appropriate staff member
Encouraging inclusive and active play
Person Specification
A positive and patient approach when working with children
Ability to communicate clearly and work well as part of a team
Reliability and a flexible approach to work
An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
